About Our Instructor, Dick Ellis
At Frisco Concealed Handgun, we pride ourselves in creating a fun, engaging, safe environment where you can learn to handle a handgun, earn your LTC, and purchase the guns, ammunition, and accessories you need.
Our instructor, Dick Ellis, has been a certified License to Carry instructor since 1995. He was a member of the first concealed carry instructors’ class in Texas, where he earned his certification alongside law enforcement.
Since that time, Dick has continued to hone his skills. He holds the following certifications:
- NRA Certified Pistol Instructor
- NRA Certified Range Safety Officer
- NRA Certified Home Firearm Safety Instructor
- TDPS School Safety Certification Instructor

Dick has trained hundreds of North Texans on the proper use, storage, and precautions necessary to utilize a firearm safely and effectively. His expertise and years of experience will provide you with an excellent resource as you go through the LTC process.
Although the information covered in the LTC course is very serious, Dick creates a fun, engaging environment that is well-suited for novice handgun owners, experienced marksmen, and everyone in between!

Frisco Concealed Handgun is a family-owned business with the mission to provide a safe, engaging environment for people of all skill levels to obtain their License to Carry (formerly known as concealed carry, Concealed Handgun License, or CHL).
We understand that laws and regulations are constantly changing, and we strive to stay abreast of any new policies that affect our customers. All of our courses strictly adhere to Texas Department of Public Safety standards.
All of our courses are now offered online. To complete the range qualification (also known as the LTC shooting test) portion of the training, we will meet you at a private outdoor shooting range in McKinney, Texas.
We are North Texans at heart! Originally located in Frisco, our office was relocated to McKinney in 2010. In 2020, we moved to our current location in Celina. We continue to proudly serve these North Texas communities: Frisco, McKinney, Plano, Celina, Allen, Melissa, Gunter, Aubrey, Prosper, Little Elm, The Colony, Collin County, Denton County, Grayson County, Dallas County.
If you don’t live near McKinney, you are welcome to take the online portion of the course and find a local instructor to guide you through the range qualification process.
As of 2020, we are proud to be a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL). We sell guns, ammunition, and accessories both online and at our store in McKinney.
